Does God Exist?

What would it take to prove the existence of God? This question and the consequences of its answer lies at the heart of Absolute Proof, the new thriller from bestselling author, Peter James. To provide absolute proof of a divine existence would trigger worldwide instability, with every one of the major faiths laying claim to such evidence by whatever means necessary. James’ new book was inspired by an unforgettable, Real-life phone call he received nearly 30 years ago. An always fascinating story-teller, Peter James returns to Life Elsewhere to tell this, and other intriguing stories about his extensive global research and finally the writing of this ambitious stand-alone thriller. “Currently, 84% of the world’s population has faith of some kind.” Says Peter James, adding, “But, are they right to have that faith, or are they deluded? I hope this book will make everyone who reads it think, perhaps in a new way, about a very ancient topic.”

Plus, we have discovered Emma Forman, a talented singer-songwriter, based in Scotland. She has a large catalogue of music available, most produced in the last year or so. Her work is clearly personal, she bares her soul about love and all the complications that come with desire and passion. We are impressed with Emma and think you will be too. In this edition, you’ll hear Not An Angel from Emma’s latest album As Strange As Fiction.  To hear more from Emma Forman pop on over to Life Elsewhere Music Vol 103.

Show #295 V 2

The Russian Asset

What apparently began as a money laundering operation evolved into something far more ambitious, ending with an either willfully ignorant or inexplicably unaware Donald Trump in the White House, a Russian asset who had become the most powerful man on earth. Using original reporting from CIA and KGB sources, as well as a vast array of documents from the FBI, Interpol, and law enforcement authorities in Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia, best-selling author, Craig Unger unravels Trump’s tangled history with Russia through 59 people with ties to both Trump and Russia, including many linked to the Mafia. Ultimately, he demonstrates that the Russian Mafia is a state actor whose ongoing criminal enterprises are tolerated so long as they serve the Russian FSB (Federal Security Service), and the Kremlin. In effect, he reports, that makes Vladimir Putin the capo di tutti capi of the Russian mob. Craig Unger talks with Norman B about his timely and riveting new book, House Of Trump, House Of Putin:  The Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia.

The Artful Storyteller Avoids Disclosing The Plot Twist

It’s 1955, at a party in a lush Roman palazzo. A wealthy American art collector has invited all the expat socialites — plus one of the great painters of modern art, Bear Bavinsky, a brawny, beardy charmer known for his wildly colored (and wildly sexualized) canvases. As Bear regales everyone with tales of his rivals such as Picasso and Pollock, another guest is observing from afar: his wife, Natalie, a superb artist but overlooked. For comfort, she clutches the hand of their son, Pinch, who is 5. This novel is itself a portrait — not depicting the life of the great Bear, nor of Natalie, but of their son, Pinch, who grows up longing to equal his father’s greatness, is sometimes elevated by his old man, sometimes crushed. Until one day, Pinch begins an astonishing plan that’ll change art history forever…This is a tantalizing glimpse into the new must-read novel, The Italian Teacher by Tom Rachman. In the next edition of Life Elsewhere, Tom talks spiritedly about his intriguing book, but with his artful storyteller’s skill, he never reveals the crucial plot twist of his entertaining, heartbreaking novel about art, family, loyalty, and authenticity. The conversation between Tom and Life Elsewhere host, Norman B is all the more fascinating because of how they delve into the story and the characters. Makes sure you do not miss an exceptional interview with Tom Rachman, an enormously talented writer, and listen carefully to see if you can decipher the plot twist, he avoids disclosing.
