During the past twelve months it has been impossible to avoid the mention of AI in print, online, broadcasting and in conversation. Talk of and about AI has fast become an everyday topic. From ChatGPT, Claude, Firefly, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and so many more AI apps are everywhere offering to help us get through whatever task we have in hand. You could say that AI is omnipresent, you could also say Artificial Intelligence is hard to avoid. With the US midterm elections looming ahead very soon we seriously ask could AI sway the election results. The midterms will be historical no matter which party wins. Previously unheard of exorbitant funding ares cascading into campaigns along with the lavish and unprecedented use of AI. The importance of AI cannot be ignored.
To help us answer the question Can AI Sway The Midterms? We called up the undeniable expertise of three gentlemen who proudly claim to be the world’s first band to leverage ChatGPT to advance songwriting & release an album in less than 50 days. They are The Layoffs who contend their work opens up bigger topics around creativity, technology and what we are supposed to do with all these new tools. David Robinson (D-Rob) has led design at places like Google, Yahoo and Flexport, and somehow still has enough emotional energy left to be in a band. Jeremy LaCroix (Jerry Business) has roots in punk, magazines and Silicon Valley, Jeremy brings the “this could either become a song or a problem” energy every good band needs. Josh Klenert has spent years leading design across media and big brands, from magazines to digital platforms. “The Layoffs have become our way to experiment with where creativity and AI collide.” Announces Josh.
The Layoffs took timeout from their hectic schedules to discuss the influence and importance of AI in the upcoming midterms and the aftermath. Plus, they created the delightful image above! We encourage you to visit The Layoffs site to enjoy their music and videos.
We now have a YouTube channel where you can view our conversation with The Layoffs.
